This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent is the designated Joint Staff Information Security Manager. Develops and maintains an Information Security Strategic Plan, prioritizes security initiatives, maintains security performance measures in support of the Joint Staff.
Duties
As a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Implementing and administering the provision of Executive Order 13526, ISOO Directives, and DOD 5200.01M.
Coordinates the development of plans, policies, and directives, as appropriate, with OSD, other defense agencies, and the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO).
Develops and maintains internal security programs for classified document control, inspections, and unauthorized disclosures.
Participates fully in the planning, directing and operation of all phases of the Joint Staff Information Security Program. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the following areas relating to the JS Information Security Program: Classification Management; Safeguarding; Transmission and Transportation; Security Education and Training; and Security Incidents involving Classified Information.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS- 13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Plans, directs and operates of all phases of an organization's Information Security Program.
Develops and implements policies and procedures relative to the classification, declassification, and protection of classified information.
Develops and maintains internal security programs for classified document control, inspections, and unauthorized disclosures.
Coordinates information security education and training programs
Conducts security briefings to advise personnel the adverse effects that may affect the national security from unauthorized disclosure or sabotage
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
