About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W0H9AA US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND. This is a developmental position with potential to the GG-0080-11 level; assist higher graded specialists in overall multi-disicipline security program.
Duties
Provides general multi-discipline security support, including Information Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security, and Special Program Security.
Assists in developing procedures to conduct limited surveys and inspections of government or private industrt facilities that engage in work related to agency programs.
Ensures document control and special handling procedures are met, interpret and apply procedures from Department of Defense (DoD) and Army security regulations.
Ensures proper handling, transmission and transportation of classified and sensitive information and data is accordance with DoD and Army security regulatory requirements.
Coordinates and ensures personnel circulation control and access systems are established and maintained.
Develop, track, and provide annual Security, Education, and Training Awareness (SETA) for assigned personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the selectee to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires the selectee to obtain the following SPeD certifications each subsequent year after completion of the SFPC certification: SAPPC, PSC, SPSC, SPIPC.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is one year or more of professional level security related experience which includes assisting higher graded security specialist(s) in the development, implementation and/or management of policies, procedures and methods for a multi-discipline security program that included one or more of the following security disciplines: information security, personnel security, foreign disclosure, or physical security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

A Master's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. A Master's Degree or Law Degree (LLB or JD) that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application).
OR
A combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
