About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Emerging and Disruptive Technology Division, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

Serves as an Emerging and Disruptive Technologies Divisional expert on the application of data analytics and data science techniques, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining. Evaluates the effectiveness of the usage of data science techniques based on an understanding of the underlying mathematical and statistical principles. Responsible for understanding research and development trends in data science tools, techniques, and technologies. Utilizes all-source analysis principles and methodologies to produce integrated products on militarily relevant foreign data science strategies and applications. Communicates technical analyses in written and oral forms to both technical and non-technical audiences. Maintains awareness of Center-wide data science efforts and makes recommendations on data science capabilities to improve Division efforts.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
