You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the Technical Support Branch, Code 135.1, of the Nondestructive Test Division, Code 135, of the Quality Assurance Office of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will determine material requirements and initiates procurement to provide material and equipment for support of inspections. You will review the workload of the Division for short term as well as long term and projected requirements in the light of equipment, manpower and facilities. You will initiate procurement and prepares material request forms for equipment, supplies, and services to be procured both in the shipyard as well as from outside sources. You will research, evaluate, and recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies (i:e., nondestructive, dimensional and system testing equipment). You will work with both the professional and non-professional staff of the Division and various Shipyard work centers to schedule work and resolve problems encountered. You will analyze the needs of the quality assurance program based on budgetary limitations, determines the most cost-effective supply and service requirements.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • The incumbent may be required travel 10% of the time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience resolving material, facilities, and manpower problems relating to naval nuclear projects; Experience interpreting regulations, policies, procedures, and organizational structure of naval shipyards (NAVSEA); Experience applying planning, estimating, and scheduling skills and processes to complete ship repair; Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing to interact with a wide range of senior personnel and customers; Experience applying financial management and cost accounting techniques.
