About the Position: Serves as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for Army brigade-sized organizations located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Serve as the POC for coordinating care to ensure that sexual harassment complainants and sexual assault victims receive appropriate and responsive care. Ensures that sexual assault victim advocacy services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, both on and off post, for all service members and other persons covered by the SHARP Program. Ensures sexual assault victims are properly advised of their options for restricted and unrestricted reporting. Responsible for ensuring all cases of SH and SA are input and maintained in the appropriate system of record to ensure coordinated care. Establishes information and interactive, engaging training to ensure understanding of the reporting procedures, confidentiality, and other elements of the SHARP program.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete required Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) training and obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP) within 6 months after start date.
  • Must maintain an active D-SAACP certification and up-to-date commander appointment orders prior to having any victim contact or access to victim information.
  • May be subject to occasional 24/7 on-call SARC responsibilities.
  • Incumbent is required to self-report civilian arrests, the filing of criminal charges, and/or convictions of any criminal offense to their supervisors and security office.
  • Incumbent is required for background checks prior to entering on duty in the position and, IAW governing regulations, on a recurring basis while employed in the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing managerial and technical assistance in programs, such as equal opportunity, sexual assault prevention and response; evaluating programs to identify and resolve systematic issues; directing program activities that emphasize prevention of sexual assault and harassment; and establishing comprehensive policy that reinforces a culture of sexual harassment and sexual assault prevention, response and accountability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: psychology, social work, or counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Developing OthersIncident ManagementOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-09.
