You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Manager in the in the Safety Division (SEA09S), in the Safety and Regulatory Compliance Directorate (SEA09) of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.

Duties

You will provide assistance to the Deputy Director, Safety Management Division in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program planning, development, and management of policies, directives, and guidance. You conduct research into technical OSH issues, review trouble reports and critiques, write brief sheets, informational/position papers, and support compliance inspections/reviews of NAVSEA activities. You will develop NAVSEA specific policy for OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention programs. You will review high-level policy (e.g. Federal regulations, legislation, Navy Policy), adapt and interprets guideline, and develop policy and guidelines specific to NAVSEA HQ programs. You will serve as the subject matter expert in OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention. You will administer and guide OSH Program elements including inspections, evaluations, surveys, education, training, instructions, mishap prevention, accident investigation, reporting, and other activities associated with operation of OSH programs. You will directly interact with members of the workforce to promote OSH awareness and compliance with rules and regulations. You will provide OSH training associated with general and specific hazards that may be encountered in work performed at and during field assignments. You will serve as a subject matter expert for safety program areas of Gas Free Engineering and Fall Protection. You will provide input and assists in the formulation of NAVSEA program goals and objectives related to the Program. You will serve as a NAVSEA representative to working groups or committees that review and recommend changes to policies or guidelines. You will conduct investigations in response to incidents or accidents involving employees or equipment as required to determine causes of incidents.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector administering or executing an occupational health or safety program in a shipyard environment to ensure operational compliance with safety protocols, regulations, or policies.
