Duties

This position provides Life Cycle Logistics Management educational development, training of acquisition workforce, and research and analysis of defense acquisition policy issued. As a Professor of Life Cycle Logistics management, you will apply knowledge, experience, and technical skills to teach and facilitate higher levels of learning for the Department of Defense acquisition workforce. This requires knowledge of life cycle logistics, life cycle product support, integrated product support elements, performance-based logistics, supply chain management, and reliability, availability, maintainability, suitability, affordability, and supportability analyses. This entails knowledge and experience regarding the planning, developing, implementing, and managing an effective systems support strategy for DoD weapons systems across a system's life cycle (concept and design through disposal) to include: Identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program. Correlating those requirements with program plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place. Design and development, procurement, production storage, distribution, maintenance, transportation, utilization, and disposal of materials. Broad knowledge of the organization and functions of activities involved in providing logistical support. Integration of actions required of each activity into a comprehensive business case analysis and sustainment plan in support of or to be incorporated into overall program plans. Ability to coordinate and evaluate the efforts of functional specialists to identify specific requirements and to develop and adjust plans and schedules for the actions needed to meet each requirement on time. Evaluation of plans for and provision of logistical support for feasibility, efficiency, and economy, and to develop alternatives when required. All aspects of Life Cycle Logistics to include the areas of: determination and assessment of warfighter life cycle logistics and product support requirements logistics test and evaluation logistics contracting configuration management life cycle cost logistics budget development the twelve integrated product support elements policies, processes and practices used in DoD various types of supportability analysis Performs other duties as assigned. Faculty Duties: Creates and/or delivers learning assets and content as needed, and coordinates with partner divisions that manage related curriculum, or that control DAU processes and tools. Stays abreast of changes and trends in primary functional area, continuously researching, gaining, and sharing knowledge in federal communities of practice. Pursues and maintains digital and data analysis fluency that align with DAU and primary functional area best practices in public and private industry. Maintains currency in, and actively uses university technology, digital and social media platforms to create and deliver DAU assets. Focus on the needs of the customer in a modern learning and business environment that is subject to continual change with respect to platforms, networks, and delivery Serves as a thinking partner with stakeholders and customers, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and service the point of need through synchronous and asynchronous methods. Builds relationships and collaborates with peers and component leaders from all organizations within the area of responsibility. Elicits feedback to shape the policies, processes and procedures that produce a frictionless experience for the customers and stakeholders.

• Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance
• You may be required to serve a two (2) year probationary period.
• The incumbent of this position may be required to work overtime, irregular shifts, and/or on the weekend.
• Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on commercial aircraft.
• Advanced Acquisition Certification in the Life Cycle Logistics Career Field is required or must be obtained within 48 months of start date
• Incumbent must achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years, in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5000.66, Defense Acquisition Workforce Education, Training, Experience, and Career Development Program.

Significant experience and skill in a Life Cycle Logistics Management position that reflects the ability to integrate the separate functions in planning or implementing a integrated product support management program In addition to the above qualifications, the following as been determined to be a Quality Ranking Factor. Knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System, including in-depth knowledge, application and experience of the interrelationships among its elements. Experience with analyzing sustainment performance metrics Product Support Management (PSM) / Product Support leadership experience Demonstrated experience in an IT Program office or with Model Based Product Support/Digital Engineering, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Supportability analysis, Intellectual Property, Software Sustainment/Agile concepts, or RAM Analysis is highly desirable. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

DAU Faculty Pay Band Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements:

• DAU Pay Band A (AD-11) (Equivalent to a GS-09 through GS-13 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
  • Basic requirements for Band A include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree and up to four years of experience in the appropriate functional area.
• DAU Pay Band B (AD-12) (Equivalent to a GS-14 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
  • Basic requirements for Band B include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of six years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band B.

• DAU Pay Band C (AD-13) (Equivalent to a GS-15 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
  • Basic requirements for Band C include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band C.
