This Military Service Coordinator serves as an integral participant and POC in the Integrated Disability Evaluation and Systems (IDES) process, Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) program, quick start claims (QS) and Transition Assistance Program (TAP) for military service members who are separating/retiring from active duty and for their dependents and beneficiaries.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/16/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
Note: To support your claim of time in grade, you must submit your most recent appointment, promotion, within grade increase SF-50 (not an award or general adjustment SF-50). See the required documents section for more information. Note: multiple SF-50s may be required to adequately illustrate you have the requisite time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: Analyzing evidence (medical, benefit and/or legal documents); developing case file records and reports to support claim decisions; and interpreting and applying laws, regulations and official guidance sufficient to evaluate the adequacy of collected information to determined claimant eligibility for benefits.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, If related.
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level (GS-09) may be used to qualify at the GS-11 level.

Physical Requirements: A high level of physical energy is required, as the incumbent will be expected to meet with many people in many different locations in the course of a workday.
Work Environment: The incumbent will have an office within the VSC. However, it is expected that a major portion of the services provided will be conducted away from the office, in the office of other agencies, and in Non-Traditional setting and in military, reserve and National Guard facilities. The nature of the job requires travel throughout an assigned geographical area away from the work setting.
