This Safety and Occupational Health Specialist position is located in the Nuclear Surety Staff (SPB 62) at Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC), Strategic Systems Program. Duties

You will serve as the Nuclear Weapons Radiological Control Officer. You will assist with the planning, coordination, and conduct of internal drills and exercises involving nuclear weapons radiological incidents. You will perform systems analysis to identify all required equipment and resources to support nuclear emergency response teams are available Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC). You will review all applicable support agreements. You will work with the Radiation Health Technician. You will maintain and monitor Nuclear Radiological Control records and act as the liaison with Navy medical for examinations and screenings. You will track radiation physical exams for workers and issue, process, and monitor dosimeters.

Requirements

• This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and recommending solutions to radiological control functions to reduce potential exposure to radiation associated with the stowage, maintenance, or handling of weapons.
