You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the SYSTEMS SAFETY & MUNITIONS MANAGEMENT BRANCH of the SPECIALIZED MUNITIONS DIVISION in the SPECIAL WARFARE & EXPEDITIONARY SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
This position is equivalent to the GS-13/14 level.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $128,043).
Duties
You will serve as the Team Leader for the Receipt, Segregation, Storage and Inspection of Ammunition and Explosives and related materials for the Munitions Management (JXRV) mission.
You will be responsible for planning and conducting various projects of broad scope and unconventional nature requiring the ability to interpret, select and extend pertinent precedents or guides relating to the area of specialization.
You will analyze data and studies characteristics of materials relating to engineering systems, processes, structures, and materials.
You will exercise creativity and critical judgment in developing new methods and recommending solutions to unique/complex problems
You will be responsible for time and money constraints and coordinating efforts of other personnel within these constraints.
You will be responsible for optimum storage and flow between facilities and the security and accountability for over 24,000 line items.
You will coordinate thousands of shipments and hundreds of receipts annually in addition to movements to and from production and range facilities on base as well as Camp Atterbury and Lake Glendora Testing Facility.
You will oversee and maintains 60 ordnance magazines for maximum space utilization ensuring compliance under all security and safety regulations.
You will support and maintain daily contact with over 100 local Project Engineers in Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation testing of ordnance for all military services as well as government activities within and outside of DoD.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Explosive certification.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing, developing and implementing technical engineering methods and techniques to assess engineering systems and provide technical oversight for the receipt, segregation, storage or inspection of Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) and related materials ensuring compliance with security and safety requirements.
