About the Position:
Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services. Tests include the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) - ASVAB, Internet CAT-ASVAB, and various computer and paper/pencil special purpose tests given for service-specific occupational classification and other non-aptitude tests.
Duties
Brief applicants on testing instructions.
Score enlistment and high school tests using automated and non-automated methods.
Maintain strict accountability and security of all testing materials.
Conduct aptitude and qualification examinations.
Perform quality control of examinations and applicable applicant information.
Input testing information into the appropriate accession reporting system.
Serve as a member of the Quality Review Process Team.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a driver's license.
- Cross-trains in other functions of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), such as processing, and performs these functions as required.
- Handles accountable test material.
- Position requires conducting test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).
- Occasional weekend or evening work is required. During night testing, this work will entail night shift work (1130 - 2000 hours) when the Testing Clerk is the only employee in the building.
- Frequent local travel and occasional temporary duty (TDY) business travel may be required (may require hotel stay for multiple nights to meet mission requirements).

For the GS-04:
General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as: Assist with distributing testing materials; Working knowledge of test security policies and procedures; Receive and deliver telephone messages for the staff and answers routine inquiries.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-05:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Administering aptitude tests; Securing testing materials; and Performing administrative support duties, such as answering phones, responding to inquiries, or operating office automation equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

For the GS-05:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
For the GS-04:
Generally, an employee may be advanced to this position, if he/she has served in a position no lower than 2 grades below the position being filled within the last 52 weeks.
Education
