Serves as the first line supervisor of the Eligibility & Enrollment subsection for the Ambulatory Care & Processing (AC&P) section of Medical Administration Service (MAS). Eligibility & Enrollment is responsible for the functions and determinations, for Pre-Registration, New Appointment Scheduling and responsible for assisting in managing, directing, coordinating, supervision and implementing various activities for the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System.
Duties
Major Duties:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the admissions/processing,
Setting and adjusting short term priorities based upon the needs to the clinics and patient population presenting.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities.
Selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Hear and resolve complaints from employees.
responsible for personnel management including recruitment, staffing, employee relations, labor relations, performance appraisals, employee awards, pay/leave administration, training and performing necessary research related to human resource management issues.
Observes workers performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques.
Responsible for completing all administrative duties associate with the delivery of patient care.
Maintains contact with clinical personnel and other staff in various clinics
Coordinates consultations and referrals of patients to other specialty services and schedules patients for future appointments.
Screening, advising, and assisting Veterans and beneficiaries who come to the facility for treatment or services.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement,

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: least one (1) full year of Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of an Supervisory Patient Service Assistance. Example may include, but not limited to the ability to lead a large range of subordinates, scheduling, training, teaching, counseling, motivating employees, clerical and Administrative skills, i.e; personnel; knowledge of VHA human resources policy to advise, plan and execute VHA and local organization initiatives and priorities for the facility, knowledge and skill to apply the latest developments in continuous process improvement to resolve problems for which accepted methods are not directly applicable and to review latest policy, directives and internal guidance for the improvement or sustained compliance of facility operations. functions of Eligibility & Enrollment determinations, Pre-Registration, New Appointment Scheduling, and other clinic support functions for outpatient clinics, assisting in managing, directing, coordinating, supervision and implementing various, Eligibility & Enrollment activities, day-to-day operations of the admissions/processing, clinic coordination, personnel management including recruitment, staffing, employee relations, labor relations, performance appraisals, employee awards, pay/leave administration, provides timely service to veterans, knowledge with eligibility criteria, assuring that the incomplete encounter action require report is run daily, meet workload deadlines, planning, coordinating, organizing and completion of assigned projects, evaluations and reports with the timeframe required, addressing complaints or concerns directed, identifying and arranging development and training for all staff. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to perform tasks. However, there may be
some walking, standing, bending, carry of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
