The incumbent provides full administrative support to the Medicine Service Chief, Administrative Officer (AO), Hematology Oncology (HemOnc) Section Chief and Radiation Oncology (RadOnc) Section Chief. Responsible for all administrative inpatient/outpatient clinics of the HemOnc and RadOnc Sections. Service as the administrative subject matter expert for sections assigned.
Duties
Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for assisting, supporting, coordinating, and integrating all operations and administrative functions of the HemOnc and RadOnc section.
Monitor and identify both VA and University schedules for any discrepancies of call coverage and patient care matters, and daily remedy any identified issues with independent judgment except in most highly complex situations requiring supervisor approval.
Coordinates and makes decisions for continuum of care through coordination with Ambulatory Care, Surgery Service, and all specialty services within Medicine including but not limited to Gastrointestinal, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Endorinology, Pulmonary, Sleep, Cardiology, Hospitalist, Infectious Diseases, and Nephrology.
Uses computerized systems to rectify, correct, and remedy ongoing connection problems to ensure timely care is provided to patients through clinical and provider staff.
Prepares both nontechnical and technical reports and uses this data to make informed decisions and helps define the direction of the section(s).
Reviews existing directives and instructional material pertaining to administrative practices and clerical procedures to be aware of new, revised or amended procedures for such matters as preparation and processing of correspondence, report forms, filing, mail procedures, preparation of travel vouchers, training, timekeeping and security procedures.
Responsible for the monthly call physician schedules, weekend call physician schedules, In patient physician coverage schedule, conference schedules, pager numbers, etc., as needed.
Serves as a F01 Medicine Service Purchase Card Cardholder, allowing purchases up to $3,500 on behalf of medicine service as directed by supervisor.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/06/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialize Experience for the GS-07 grade level: You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Responsible for assisting, supporting, coordinating, and integrating all operations and administrative functions of the HemOnc and RadOnc section. Provides daily program and administrative support within the service by gathering documents, reports, statistics, information, and data to create concise reports for use by supervisors. Monitor and identify both VA and University schedules for any discrepancies of call coverage and patient care matters, and daily remedy any identified issues with independent judgment except in most highly complex situations requiring supervisor approval.
