About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Southwest Georgia Martin Army Community Hospital Director of Executive Located in Fort Moore, GA. This position serves as the Health Informatics Officer and Chief in a Market level office within the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Provide management, administrative oversight and support to ensure the delivery of integrated, affordable and high-quality healthcare to beneficiaries.

Duties

Develop plans, identifies resource needs and prioritizes initiatives with a focus on DHA’s Quadruple Aim Performance Plan (QPP). Develop initiatives to support data analysis and quality improvements in the areas of health informatics. Monitor the functionality of health information systems to ensure efficient and effective progress and establish the appropriate metrics to evaluate informatics outcomes. Ensure the delivery of integrated, affordable and high-quality healthcare to beneficiaries in accordance with DHA’s priorities of great outcomes, ready medical force, satisfied patients and fulfilled staff. Recommend resolution of issues that affect technical, legal, ethical, financial, informatics, and organizational factors within the Market. Serve in a leadership position over a large Medical Market within the Defense Health Agency. Collaborate with all forms of medical staff to ensure that health informatics related concerns, challenges and initiatives are shared and advocated for within the Market and when appropriate with DHA’s Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO). Develop and maintains a close liaison and coordination with other Market’s CHIOs/CMIOs and end users of the clinical information systems. Evaluate health care situations and apply extensive experience in dealing with and resolving problems. Identify gaps in performance to support the deployment and adoption of new health informatics capabilities within the market such as a new electronic health record. Develop quality improvement initiatives in the area of health informatics to improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of current systems/tools. Support of DHA’s Quadruple Aim Performance Plan (QPP) to identify resource needs and prioritizes initiatives across the Military Health System (MHS).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires approximately 10% TDY/travel.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. Employee is required to remain in place or report for duty during inclement weather conditions or other appropriate emergency conditions.
  • All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-13.
