About the Position: Serves as the S-8 Budget Officer for the assigned Recruiting Brigade (BDE), for the US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). Plans, directs, and coordinates the budgetary functions of the BDE and its associated Battalions (BNs).

Duties

Oversee multiple funding area's on behalf of assigned brigade (i.e. Brigade Command Operating Budget (COB), Operation and Maintenance Army(OMA) appropriations fund). Provide budget justification based on available resources and mission needs of Brigade. Directs the Brigade financial inspection program to ensure associated Battalions are in compliance with existing policies and procedures. (Budget Execution)

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012.
  • May be required to travel (Temporary duty travel) TDY up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) utilizing an automated system (i.e., General Fund Enterprise System (GFEBS), to detect trends in fund utilization; (2) participating in the formulation of the annual budget for an organization; (3) ensuring budgetary programs are in compliance with regulatory and/or statutory guidelines; (4) utilizing an automated financial system to prepare financial reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and PresentationFundamentals & Operations of Budget Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
