About the Position: Serve as the Senior Logistician and Battalion Deputy Commander, providing overall supervisory and management responsibility for all battalion activities, operations, and personnel located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Duties

Oversee the maintenance, supply, ammunition, food service, laundry, transportation, property accountability, clothing, and other related logistical activities. Manage a workforce comprised of civilian, military, and contractor personnel performing various logistical functions. Recommend program goals and develops plans for the organization. Keep Commander informed and prepared so that the Commander’s decisions are based on the best and most timely information available. Define resource needs, and allocation of resources and accounts. Make recommendations on plans for organizational changes which have considerable impact such as those involving basic structure, operating costs, and key positions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time to attend training.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts, and weekends.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14 or above).
