The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to Headquarters, Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center.
Duties
1. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the AFIMSC Information Security Program ensuring that the Information Protection branch complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
2. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
3. Represents HQ AFIMSC with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
4. Provides Technical Oversight over AFIMSC enterprise security managers for the Personnel, Operational and Industrial security programs.
5. Makes Information Protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategy/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues.

- This is a KEY position. The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability to function effectively
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD
- This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant has or will have within 120 days of closing this announcement at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service. This experience includes but is not limited to researching, interpreting, analyzing and applying information security standards; developing and implementing policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of persons with access to classified/sensitive information; representing the center by attending and briefing at events and meetings with various organizations, key customers, and coordinating officials; providing oversight, guidance, training, and recommendations for improvement on a wide range of information security and administrative needs.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology and practices involved in security.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and accurately to a large range of audiences.
5. Skill in use of analytical principles, practices and techniques to review, evaluate and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationship with other protective programs and cost/benefit considerations.
6. Skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations and guidance to assist subordinate organizations in establishing and operating internal security programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
