This Temporary Promotion opportunity will serve as a Budget Officer, located in the Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustees Program (USTP), Executive Office for United States Trustees (EOUST), Office of Admin, Budget Branch in Washington, D.C. The mission of the office is to account, manage, secure, invest and spend (when authorized), USTP's appropriations and revenue.

This position serves as the Budget Officer for the Budget Branch, under the direction of the Assistant Director for Administration, who provides a general outline of responsibilities, interprets agency policies, establishes limits of authority, and relies upon the incumbent to perform assigned duties independently with minimum supervision and oversight.
Duties of this Budget Officer position include but are not limited to:
Develop the Program's operating plan and presents the plan to the Program's senior management for approval prior to submission to the Department and Congress.
Provide technical assistance to the United States Trustees and to the employees of both the EOUST and 21 regional offices.
Serve as a first-line and second-line supervisor of the Branch's staff with responsibility for work assignments; work product reviews; performance evaluation; awards recommendation; and appropriate human resources responsibilities including employee relations responsibilities as it relates to the staff supervised.
Maintain an ongoing perspective of the total budget situation and in operational planning, policy, formulation, execution, and program guidelines development.
Work directly with the regional United States Trustee's or designee to ensure that budget allocations serve the needs of the region and field offices.
Plan and implement agency-wide program and budget guidance governing the execution of budgets.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
- You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Budget Officer, (GS-0560-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

Specialized Experience: Your resume must demonstrate having at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as serving as a technical expert on all program aspects to include budget execution, formulation, and travel management for a component or organization and providing administrative and policy direction.
