About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the U.S. Recruiting Command (USAREC) Advertising and Public Affairs (A&PA) office of a Recruiting Battalion (BN). Assists in the execution of advertising, promotional, outreach, and public affairs activities within the BN area of responsibility.
Duties
Prepares and submits After-Action Reports assessing the success of promotional programs
Writes news and feature articles for internal BN and HQs publications, social media and other Army publications/sites.
Writing news releases and feature articles for internal and external publications.
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with media vendors, news media representatives, and officials of various public and private organizations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Travel throughout the BN area and occasional temporary duty will be required 10%.
- May be required to serve a 1 year probationary period

In order to qualify, you must meet the e education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience responding to and overseeing appropriate and accurate release of information to internal or external media markets and publics; writing/reviewing speeches; and producing/editing presentations for media release. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (You must submit transcript).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
