As a Cybersecurity Cloud Expert with the Cybersecurity and Privacy Division, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Cybersecurity Standards and Engineer office you will provide security systems and tools management related to the cloud technologies and play a vital role in protecting NASA's data. You will also investigate and analyze existing cloud structures and creating new and enhanced security methods that will enhance the security of cloud-based environments.

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Providing, managing, and utilizing Cloud platform services from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. Creating, developing and/or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures as well as ensuring compliance of cloud service providers. Gain/maintain knowledge of the enterprise's security goals as established by NASA stated policies, procedures, and guidelines, and to actively work towards upholding those goals. Advising in the planning and design of enterprise security architecture. Evaluating new and possible cloud vendors on security features and advise the Strategic Sourcing Specialist on those that meet organizational security standards and policies. Coordinating and collaborating with the Cybersecurity Chief Engineer, the Cybersecurity Chief Architect, and Service Line Integration and providing guidance and recommendation on implementing controls to meet federal cybersecurity requirements. Working with the Cybersecurity Chief Engineer to document the Application Programming Interface (API) across the various Cloud Providers that can be used to monitor and measure Cybersecurity compliance with NASA and Federal requirements. Responsible for automating security controls, data and processes to provide improved metrics and operational support. Interpreting security and technical requirements into business requirements and communicate security risks to relevant stakeholders ranging from business leaders to engineers.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Working as a team member to prepare and present status/staff reports and correspondence to managers in standard customer support recommendations and procedures. Collaborating with project teams, application owners, and other Information Security teams on information security controls; Providing advice on security strategies, processes, response and technologies to security operations and other teams. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Providing written and oral communication techniques sufficient to develop and deliver briefings, project papers, status/staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations; Counseling project teams, application owners, and other Information Security teams on information security controls; Identifying guidance and cybersecurity solutions on security strategies, processes, response and technologies to security operations and other teams. AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
