About the Position: Serves as a senior Human Resource Specialist (Military) with responsibility of managing policies and programs within the framework of the Army Officer Personnel Management System, Pentagon, Arlington, VA.
Duties
Manage policy that supports officer accessions, appointments, and separations.
Provide policy guidance to Reserve Component and Active Army agencies as requested.
Conduct review of existing policies regarding personnel management of Reserve Component (RC) personnel.
Develop proposed policies.
Adapt/apply existing regulations to resolve problems not covered by regulations or precedent decisions.
Request the submission of a formal inquiry for exception to policy or regulations.
Attend conferences and formal/informal meetings.
Present briefings to coordinate matters of mutual interest.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing written correspondence on military personnel matters such as letters, memorandums, and briefing; resolving strategic level personnel management issues; analyzing and interpreting a variety of legislative references and information materials to maintain compliance with policies and laws; developing and implementing new policies/modification of current policy in accordance with legislative updates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
