You will serve as an Administrative/Technical Specialist in the Special Programs, Security Division of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

Duties

You will serve as COMSEC Custodian for the Command and will be responsible for the security and accountability for materials and equipment related to the COMSEC Account. You will focus your duties on accountability, security, Two Person Integrity (TPI) requirements, and the identification of improper practices. You will ensure efficient and accurate control of Top-Secret material/equipment/documents. You will work independently and ensure work is being performed within the COMSEC Office in a manner that promotes compliance to deadlines and quality objectives. You will interpret complex security regulations and procedures to include the security, control, inventory, and safeguarding of COMSEC materials. You will utilize expert knowledge and problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts as they arise, provide technical guidance, and formulate solutions. You will draft or revise instructions and procedures for the protection, installation, and use of COMSEC information and systems. You will provide technical oversight and leadership to the COMSEC Office and provide training to lower-level employees to promote knowledge sharing and compliancy.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Communications Security, Intermediate level, within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR NT-05 (GS-13/14 equivalent): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience administering or coordinating security programs to ensure Security Communications information is properly accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, and safeguarded.
