This position is in the Infrastructure Operations (IO), Records and Privacy (R&P). R&P oversees the protection, access, and disclosure of GAO information assets. The incumbent will perform assignments focused on evaluating the effectiveness of GAO records policies, program and operation in the maintenance, retention and disposition of records in all media for GAO.
Duties
As a Records and Information Management Specialist, PT-0308-3 your typical work assignments may include the following:
Administer the agency Records and Information Mgt. (RIM) program.
Formulate RIM policy, develop plans for policy implementation and assess records management tools.
Manage the revision and updates of the records retention schedules.
Serve as the agency representative on issues related to records and information management in negotiations with the National Archives during each revision cycle.
Advise management on developments in the records management field.
Develop and conduct RIM quality control reviews, compliance audits, risk assessments and surveys to measure effectiveness of electronic systems and program improvement.
Formulate RIM policy, develop plans for policy implementation, and provide governance on the use of records management tools to ensure best practices and compliance with federal statutes.
Oversee the Records and Privacy training program by creating, conducting or coordinating training for all GAO staff.
Provide advice and guidance to records liaisons, custodians, and customers on records lifecycle requirements and functionality in all media and formats.
Serve as the project manager and team leader on a variety of records management projects dealing with matrix initiatives, cleanup projects and electronic and physical records processing and dispositions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Specialized Experience: (Indicate the minimum qualifications based on the information above): One year (52 Weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the NEXT LOWER BAND, PT-II, PE-IIA, CS-II or GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent.
Specialized experience is experience (1) monitoring, tracking, and assessing an organization's compliance with records and information management (RIM) regulations; (2) conducting RIM quality control reviews and compliance audits (3) leading projects for process improvements to strengthen compliance and (4) analyzing an organization's procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
