About the Position:
This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Moore, Georgia 31905. The Maneuver Center of Excellence is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.
Duties
Serve as a Maneuver Doctrine Writer for the Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) in the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
Evaluate brigade/regiment and battalion/squadron doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures in order to validate, modify, or write new doctrine in support of maneuver missions.
Evaluate combined, joint, multi-service, and Army concepts, doctrine, in order to analyze, validate, modify, or develop and support new doctrine.
Review new systems, concepts, organizations, equipment, and personnel in support of maneuver missions and other activities.
Coordinate with Training and Doctrine Command organizations/field units to review doctrinal and training publications using current products and doctrine concepts and scenarios.
Develop and operate a program for the systematic staffing and reviewing of assigned doctrinal literature to ensure synchronization with current maneuver doctrine, and training programs.
Requirements
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement about 30% of the time of duty.
- A pre-employment physical is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing doctrinal information for the test and evaluation of operational concepts related to organizations material and developing new doctrine and training literature products such as field manuals, training circulars and supplemental material for current and future maneuver and reconnaissance organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
