Duties
You will administer the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems in support of the NAVFAC organization's Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) programs.
You will provide advice and recommendations on IM/IT system administration.
You will interpret and apply IM/IT policies, processes and guidelines, conduct systems and applications analysis/design and recommend resolutions to problems and issues.
You will troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451/441 level BASIC within 12 months of appointment.
Qualifications
You must have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Managing the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Working closely with customer officials to ensure seamless implementation of IT policies and systems.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Preparing or presenting present reports and plans; recommending resolution and improvements on various matters; e.g., network and
operational technology procurement.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Troubleshooting installed operating systems to identify and resolve issues.
In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, performing duties such as:
Administering the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems to include routers, switches, workstations and servers in an Operational Technology (OT)/Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environment;
Managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment;
Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
