About the Position: This is a Logistics Management Specialist position with the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, Munitions/Logistics Readiness Center, Munitions Logisitcs Directorate, Distribution Division located at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL.

Duties
Troubleshoots day-to-day ammunition logistics problems and develops new ammunition logistics approaches to satisfy unit/retail requirements.
Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist analyzing, coordinating, and/or overseeing projects in support of wholesale and retail ammunition logistics operations worldwide.
Ensures work assignments are coordinated and completed, giving due consideration to priorities and technical adequacy/accuracy.
Provides management advice on unique/unprecedented problems and assumes responsibility for end products.
Evaluating procedures on their applicability within the Command on matters pertaining to ammunition logistics plans or programs.
Analyzes proposed mission, ensures interface with affected organizations, and ensures mission is consonant with the short-term and long-term goals of the organization on all new concepts and improvements.
Computes requirements via various studies for supply needs using data to determine and direct distribution plans for ammunition systems.
These duties are described at the full performance level of GS-12. The duties at the GS-09, GS-11 level are developmental leading to such performance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
- This is an Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics-Foundational Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
- This position requires a Secret security clearance. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance,

Specialized experience for GS-09: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: 1) Assisting with developing and/or implementing logistic and programmatic policies, processes, initiatives and/or programs in logistical support for programs; and/or 2) Gathering and reviewing a variety of logistic and/or financial data to prepare reports for management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07). OR
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related from an accredited college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). OR
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Specialized experience for GS-11: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: 1) Assisting in analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of distribution plans to support requirements; 2) Assisting with providing coordination and guidance to ensure the logistical support for programs; and 3) Assisting in developing, coordinating, and maintaining less complex logistics support policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09). OR
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university. (Note: Transcripts are required with your application). OR
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess.
