You will serve as a Platform Analyst in the Platform Engineering Division (210), Engineering Department (200) of SURFACE MAINT ENG PLANNING PROGRAM.

Duties

You will conduct studies, programs, initiatives and studies to improve advance planning, integration and control procedures ship maintenance and repair activities and ship availabilities. You will serve as the life cycle maintenance manager for the assigned ship class and, as such, is charged with the responsibility for the long term planning of all off-ship repair, maintenance, and modernization. You will conduct analysis in the effectiveness and productivity of ship maintenance procedures. You will manage repair and modernization activities during the naval ship maintenance cycle from the initial planning execution of the availability and thru to the completion closeout. You will serve as the subject matter expert on managing and directing condition based maintenance, ship repair and modernization programs, assessments, analysis and initiatives for slow to degrade systems (i.e. structures, propulsion, generators). You will provide the maintenance team with technical and management advice and guidance on correct procedures for maintenance and modernization requests/recommendations to enhance ship's mission effectiveness, safety, or economic viability. You will develop effective resolution to continuous and long-standing material deficiencies, which adversely affect operational reliability or exceed their Service Life (ESL). You will evaluate conditions found during assessments and provide recommendations for corrective action. You will be responsible for the planning, development, and execution of intermediate and depot level industrial maintenance. You will maintain maintenance and machinery history for life cycle critical systems of assigned ship(s). You will evaluate the operating condition of shipboard equipment by collecting, analyzing and validating objective evidence of system or equipment condition for maintenance determination. You will develop and prioritize work packages that consider the economic constraints placed upon the Navy's resources while ensuring deferrals are documented for future accomplishment, considering cost-effectiveness, prudence, and safety.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing ship maintenance data, procedures, requirements, or projects in support of maintenance actions to ensure operational readiness or availabilities of surface ships.
