You will serve as an Intelligence Specialist in the Naval Warfare Department, SWORD Division (OIC-210) of NIMITZ OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE CENTER, serving as a senior tactical acoustic analyst within the Submarine Warfare Operations Research Division.
Duties
You will apply an in-depth understanding of LOFAR gram analysis and beamforming techniques to daily acoustic analysis using specialized signal processing and analysis equipment and software installed in the National ACINT Laboratory (NAIL).
You will employ an advanced knowledge of foreign naval platforms and weapon systems acoustic signatures and associated sensor capabilities.
You will represent ONI positions and interests in a variety of intelligence community and broader Navy forums; prepare and present briefings to high level audiences; and cultivate productive exchanges with customers and U.S. and foreign partners.
You will maintain extensive liaison with associate analysts, particularly on issues that cross into scientific and technical areas.
You will provide continuity to mentor and train junior acoustic analysts in the division.
You will provide bearing files and work with intelligence analysts performing the tactical reconstruction of events from an acoustic perspective.
Requirements

- All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Some travel (domestic and overseas) required.
- The employee may be required to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and shift work as real-world events or Navy activities (to include operations and exercises) require.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as the following: 1) Preparing in-depth reports on acoustic aspects of tactical events involving foreign submarine forces and ASW forces (surface ships, helicopters, and aircraft); 2) Applying Target Motion Analysis (TMA) techniques and acoustic signal processing theory to analysis of tactical events; 3) Developing detailed acoustic reports and other products that fully represent the tactical picture of specific events from an acoustic perspective; 4) Performing acoustic analysis, submarine and surface ship acoustic signatures, and advanced techniques to conduct analysis on raw acoustic data.
