About the Position: Serves as a Protocol Specialist within the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command. Incumbent's recommendations provide the basis for the observance of correct protocol procedures and precedence in support of the Commanding General, SES deputy and other Senior Executive Service members.
Duties
Plan/coordinate/execute protocol aspects of visits for high ranking United States general officers and foreign dignitaries as well as special ceremonies hosted by the Commanding General.
Determine protocol support requirements for Senior Executive Service (SES), executive level civilians, and other distinguished visitors to the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command.
Respond to requests for advice/assistance in matters/activities relative to protocol procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Incumbent must be able to lift 30 lbs. flag stand/stanchions in the performance of event/ceremonies mission duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating and carrying out visits both foreign and domestic for general officers/senior executive service visitors; providing protocol assistance for visits of high ranking United States and foreign dignitaries; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with personnel to accomplish protocol objectives; programming and requesting use of Official Representation Funds (ORF); providing supporting logistical needs such as military air (MILAIR), commercial air (COMAIR), lodging, and visit authorization requests (VARs) for distinguished visitors (DV). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (NH-02/GS-11).
