You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Defensive Cyber Architecture Branch of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.

Duties

You will provide technical support to the NAVSEA Cybersecurity Engineering and Digital Transformation directorate (SEA 03) Defensive Cyber architecture branch chief. You will participate in developing policies, procedures, plans, recommendations, and long-range program objectives as it relates to networking, network devices, and perimeter security of NAVSEA information systems and enclaves. You will analyze cybersecurity vulnerabilities and mitigation actions as prescribed in DoD and DON directives. You will interface with NAVSEA subordinate activities and participates in cybersecurity threat analysis. You will participate in NAVSEA Cybersecurity Inspections and Technical Assist Visits in support of cybersecurity policy compliance. You will participate in agency-wide efforts concerning cybersecurity and serves on committees and work groups. You will conduct studies, analysis and/or research to develop recommendations to higher level decision-makers. You will advise system owners on policies, procedures, standards and strategies regarding how best to implement proper cyber hygiene and resiliency.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area NETWORK OPERATIONS SPECIALIST level II within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying Information Technology (IT) security principles to monitor and evaluate systems' compliance with cybersecurity requirements. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
