This position is part of the Air Force Element, U.S. Transportation Command. The incumbent is responsible for serving as a first level supervisor providing planning, directions, organization, and exercises control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Operations and Policy Branch, Defense Courier Division, Directorate of Operations and Plans.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Operations and Policy Branch, Defense Courier Division.
Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignment taking into consideration skills and qualifications, and mission requirements.
Coordinates Defense Courier activities with GO/FO/SES leadership within USTRANSCOM, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSD-I), Joint Staff, Services, Unified/Specified COCOMs, GCCs, Transportation Component Commands (TCCs), the Department of State (DOS), federal agencies, as well as executives within commercial transportation companies/vendors.
Provides direction, staff advice and guidance to 17 global courier stations on global distribution of sensitive/classified cargo.

- This position is designated by the Air Force as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force
Civilian Drug Testing Program.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Directing the activities of the branch staff to manage, synchronize, and monitor the activities of a global network of personnel and facilities providing the DoD with transportation solutions for highly sensitive national security material.
Advising staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
Providing subject matter expertise for Defense Courier operations, policies, and requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
