About the Position: Serve as the Regulatory Program Assistant for a large geographic Regulatory Branch within the State of Virginia, providing technical regulatory assistance and administrative support, and coordinating and evaluating various categories of Department of the Army permit applications for activities in navigable waters of the United States.
Duties
Receive permit applications, inquiries, enforcement information and other permit supporting documentation, determine completeness of applications for processing and appropriate action.
Prepare routine Nationwide and General Permit actions, including preparation of verifications and supporting documentation, and forward all other actions to the appropriate Supervisor for assignment within the Regulatory Branch.
Ensure regulatory program meets the physical, biological, and chemical integrity of the nation's water resources and that regulatory activities are conducted in the best interest of the public.
Resolve technical and procedural problems relating to accomplishment of many tasks for the Section/Branch, using initiative and judgment, within general agency guidelines and procedures.
Process a full range of correspondence, documentation and reports; provide administrative support by creating and amending various types of obligations, purchase requests, invoices, and civilian personnel forms; submit Time and Attendance for staff.

GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Logistical support functions for permit processing and preparing correspondence; Creating requests for personnel actions; Creating travel orders and vouchers; Purchasing supplies with governments purchase card; Processing time and attendance utilizing an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement GS-06:Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Logistical support functions to include preparing routine Nationwide and General Permit actions including preparation of verification's and supporting documentation; Creating requests for personnel actions; Creating travel orders and vouchers; Purchasing supplies with governments purchase card; Time and attendance processing utilizing the government financial management system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
