About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Defense Travel Coordinator for the Defense Travel System (DTS) and agency program coordinator (APC) for the government travel card (GTC) program and manage day-to-day operations with the responsibility of maintaining the travel system and government travel card. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Serve as subject matter expert with responsibility for providing guidance to other coordinators on the government travel card. Provide training on the use of travel charge cards, and travel system payment mechanisms. Responsible for the control and coordination of all required administrative actions to support the successful operation and management of the DTS within the military treatment facility. Utilize knowledge of the DFAS accounting system policies, regulations, and procedures in order to locate and analyze data pertaining to the budget for substantive programs. Provide guidance and assistance to travelers, approving officials, certifying officers, and coordinates with budget personnel to ensure compliance with Joint Travel Regulations. Maintain records on appointments of approving/certifying officers. Oversee input and line of accounting for all organizations and is responsible for oversight of loading the lines of accounting and budgets by working closely with budget personnel. Develop and/or conduct classroom training for coordinators in other units.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This is a DOD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 2 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain certification may result in adverse action.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-07 level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing financial and/ or travel automated systems; advising on policies and regulations related to utilization of travel card requirements; and assisting with travel card and/or travel pay related discrepancies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: Completed a bachelor's degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Finance or Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-09 level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising travelers on policies and regulations related to utilization of travel card requirements; resolving travel card and/or travel pay related discrepancies; and utilizing an automated travel system to input and retrieve travel data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
