About the Position: The Office Support Assistant (Medical Evaluation Board) position is located under the Director of Admin, Patient Administration, Department of Patient Administration Records, with a duty location Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Respond to telephone inquiries from unit administrators/service members seeking information concerning eligibility/appropriate procedures to obtain medical care.
Provide clerical support for service members undergoing Physical Disability Evaluation System (PDES) processing and associated actions.
Maintain administrative case files by initiating/extracting information for the record.
Enter information into automated health care reporting systems for future reference.
Sign health records in and out as appropriate to office personnel/Health Record Custodians to ensure accountability.
Prepare recurring/special reports for management's informational purpose.
Provide clerical support task such as ordering supplies/inputting data prepared by the supervisor ensuring accuracy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccine and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Office (PEBLO) Certification within 6 months of start date.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes utilizing digital and automated tools; marking and maintaining files; composing correspondence; receiving incoming telephone calls and responding to personal inquiries.

Education: Successful completion of a four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
