The position is located in the Board Member's Office. The Board is responsible for the adjudication of unfair labor practice cases and representation cases arising under the provisions of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, as amended. The purpose of this position is to perform and advise on a variety of legal administrative functions essential to the efficient operation of the Board Member. This is a confidential position.
Duties

As a Legal Administrative Specialist- GS- 0901- 9/11, your typical work assignments may include:
Maintaining records, preparing reports, and composing case load correspondence.
Managing the office's legal library, including publications, and providing reference, research, and database search functionality in electronic and print media to the Board Member and staff.
Maintaining the Board Member's calendar to include making appointments and providing the Board Member with files, and other materials required.
Receiving visitors and telephone calls, assessing the visitor or caller's needs, and forwarding the inquiry to the Board Member or other applicable staff.
Requirements
- This is not a remote appointment.
- U. S. Citizenship required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Relocation expenses are not authorized.
- May be subject to a background investigation prior to appointment.
- This position is NOT part of the Bargaining Unit.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Transcripts are required if qualifying based on education in lieu of specialized experience.
- Transcripts are required if qualifying on a combination of specialized experience and education.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The ideal candidate will be meticulous and will be able to evaluate, prioritize, and forward and/or respond to inquiries and requests regarding case statuses and incoming correspondence. The candidate possesses skills to extract and analyze data and prepare reports of findings. The candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and time management skills. Experience with office automation systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and case management processing systems is desired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-09.
Specialized experience includes:
Knowledge of legal administrative concepts and practices; and
Knowledge of case processing policies, procedures, and database operations; and
Experience gathering and organizing data from various sources.
OR
Have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-11.
Specialized experience includes:
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods to conduct legal research; and
Experience with the administrative duties of case processing and database management; and
Experience gathering and analyzing data from various sources and preparing reports of findings.
OR
Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS
All current and former Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 for the GS-09 or one year at the GS-09 for the GS-11 is required to qualify for this position. (NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure code (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive).
