This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position will serve as a Branch Chief in the Directorate of Production Management.
Duties
Manage the branch to meet both internal and external customer requirements and ensure the accomplishment of program planning and control functions to support the depot maintenance mission.
Review incoming workload, assign to the proper personnel, monitor progress, and identify problems or barriers.
Improve organizational environment by application of effective personnel management, such as hiring, training, awards, and discipline.
Conduct staff meetings with subordinates and instruct in the interpretation and application of overall policies and operational methods.
Requirements
- Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Position requires up to 10% travel on business.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Appointment to this position may be subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Must obtain and maintain a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification through Project Management Institute within 2 years -
- OR- an APICS/Association of Operations Management, Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) within 2 years.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Requisitioning and maintaining inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands for recurring manufacture, overhaul and repair of electronics systems; 2) Applying a wide variety of methods to analyze, plan, and implement corrective action for complex production problems; AND 3) Conferring with establishment personnel, vendors, or customers to coordinate production activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
