Description: Join the Space Launch Delta 45 Plans and Programs Directorate with the primary focus of serving as the Legislative Liaison on the stunning Space Coast of Florida! Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in driving the mission of the world's busiest spaceport? We're seeking a skilled Delta Planning Specialist (Legislative Liaison) to become a Space Force Civilian Guardian, spearheading our engagement with congressional offices, NASA, emerging commercial launch companies, and Space Force leadership. In this role, you'll be the linchpin connecting us with key stakeholders and tackling tomorrow's national security challenges head-on. Join a remarkable group of professionals as we pave the way for a Spaceport of the Future, anticipating over 100-200+ launches per year in the coming decade! Key Duties: Lead Space Launch Delta (SLD) 45 Legislative Liaison efforts, encompassing tasks such as: - Preparing SLD 45 senior leaders for congressional engagement. - Strategically planning, executing, and overseeing legislative-related visits on behalf of the SLD 45 commander. - Collaborating seamlessly with government affairs offices of NASA, commercial launch providers, SAF, Space Force and essential installation organizations such as Protocol, Civil Engineering, Security, and Public Affairs. - Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to develop meticulous responses to Requests for Information (RFI) from congressional offices. - Provide comprehensive written contact reports to the SLD 45/CC after legislative interaction/official visits. - Work closely with SLD 45, Space Systems Command (SSC) and Assured Access to Space (AATS) staff to hone messages for congressional engagements. - Effectively convey key messages (oral and/or written) to legislative offices on behalf of the SLD 45/CC. - Prepare and deliver key briefings tailored to audience regarding Strategic. Initiatives/Mission Overview - Foster key relationships with commercial space customers and federal transient customers. - Serves as a member of the Delta Industry Engagement Team (front door) and work with customers effectively through the onboarding process. - Engages with key customers, explains policies and procedures, and resolves challenges. - Plays a role in the Delta's participation in the AF Strategic Basing process. - Maintains up-to-date knowledge of SLD 45 mission, strategic objectives, vision and current space and Range policy matters. - Actively involved in the Delta's long-range planning process for the Spaceport of the Future Efforts. - Participates in Delta-level, NASA-KSC, and State of Florida forums and working groups. Key Skills and Abilities: - Proficiency in gathering, interpreting, and analyzing facts, draw sound and reasonable conclusions, devise innovative solutions to complex problems, and identify changes and trends. - Knowledge and skill in applying complex analytical techniques and methodologies to tackle multifaceted problem-solving. - In-depth understanding of comprehensive long-range and short-range planning and analysis methods. - Excellent communication skills, encompassing both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. - Knowledge of applicable statutes, DOD instructions, policies, and guidelines. - Authoritative knowledge within functional expert areas aligned with the role's responsibilities. - Persuasive in presenting recommendations, negotiating solutions, and working towards agreements. - Superior organizational skills, including adept prioritization, resource management and outcome evaluations. - Identifies problems, exercises sound judgment, and makes recommendations based on alternative evaluations. - Skilled planning, organization, and negotiation skills, especially when collaborating with internal and external agencies on resource-intensive proposal. - Proficiency in developing high-level projects, staff reports, and impactful briefings for high-level officials, both civilian and military, and delivers them professionally.

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • This position is eligible for situational telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
  • PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. More information on PCS requirements, may be found at: https://afciviliancareers.com/regulatory/
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Work may occasionally require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • Incumbent must be able to commute between KSC and SLD 45 facilities and bases.
