Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Patrick Space Force Base is searching for Chief of Plans for Space Launch Delta 45 (NH-0301-04, GS 14 / 15 equivalent). Description: Are you ready to become a Space Force Civilian Guardian and contribute to the mission of the world's busiest Spaceport? This is your chance to lead the Delta Planning section and be an integral part of our exceptional leadership team. As Chief of Plans, you'll engage with both Commercial Space Launch Customers and other Federal Agencies operating on the Eastern Range. The Plans sections works with Federal, State and local governments as well as other mission partners on policies, agreements, legislative proposals and other initiatives in support of the unique missions here on the Space Coast. Join a remarkable group of professionals as we pave the way for a Spaceport of the Future, anticipating over 100 launches per year in the coming years! Duties: - Provides leadership support and advises the Director of Plans and Programs office (XP) - Supervises nonsupervisory employees at the NH-03 level in the Plans section - Establishes and maintains relationships with installation, functional area organizations, and senior Leaders - Oversees engagement with Commercial Space Customers and Federal Strategic Basing Actions - Continuously works with all customers on the Eastern Range as their programs change to ensure SLD 45 can support - Guides the Plans Team and manages all MoA and MoU's for SLD 45 - Engages with key customers, develops strategic plans and polices for the Delta - Manages the Delta's International Agreements and Treaty Compliance programs - Plays a role in the Delta's participation in the AF Strategic Basing process - Serves as an authoritative source and corporate memory for space and range policy matters - Actively involved in the Delta's long-range planning process for the Spaceport of the Future and other major efforts - Participates in Delta-level, NASA-KSC, and State of Florida forums and working groups - Supports the Delta's legislative liaison functions and coordination with political and business leaders Key Skills: - Provides expertise in spaceport policy, strategic direction, and technical matters. - Proficient in program management processes, long-range planning, and executing projects within specified timelines. - Encourages innovation, leads teams, and builds coalitions to achieve common goals. - Skilled in customer relations, needs assessment, problem resolution, and meeting expectations. - Persuasive in presenting recommendations, negotiating solutions, and working towards agreements. - Organizes work, sets priorities, determines resource requirements, and evaluates outcomes. - Identifies problems, exercises sound judgment, and makes recommendations based on alternative evaluations. - Thoroughly knowledgeable in staff concepts, policies, management techniques, and military command. - Plans, organizes, assigns work, and communicates effectively to lead and advise on actions impacting SLD 45. - Analyzes and defends mission/resource requirements, develops alternatives, and makes recommendations to address significant problems. - Plans, organizes, and negotiates effectively with internal and external agencies on resource-intensive proposals. - Prepares projects, staff reports, and briefings for high-level officials, both civilian and military, and delivers them professionally. - Communicates clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing, with technical proficiency.

Requirements

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • This position is eligible for situational telework 2-4 days a pay period.
  • PCS funding is available.
  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement.
