About the Position: Serves as a Chemical Equipment Management Coordinator, controlling a program for the effective control of all items of equipment assigned to a Remediation Response Section. Additionally, incumbent serves as maintenance advisor and technical troubleshooter for major support agency projects. The nature of work performed requires an intensive practical knowledge of the characteristics, properties and uses of a variety of equipment both military and commercial.

Duties

Serve as the Chemical Equipment Management Coordinator. Drive tractor trailer over the road with gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds and above. Maintain Equipment assigned to Chemical Emergency Response Teams. Perform property accountability and inventories. Visit subordinates work sites to provide hands-on assistance and inspections.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid United States driver’s license.
  • Position is considered Emergency/Essential to support DA mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization.
  • Must be able to comply with the provisions of Army Regulation 50-6, Nuclear and Chemical Weapons and materiel, Chemical Surety, Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) and able to maintain Chemical Surety PRP requirements.
  • Capability for emergency worldwide response to chemical/biological accident/incident situations 24 hours per day 365 days a year.
  • Must be able to pass an urinalysis screening under the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program prior to appointment to the position and randomly thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Hazardous Material Endorsement.
  • Must be able to obtain and pass a medical examination annually to perform the job requirements.
  • Must be able to perform all duties while wearing OSHA Level A personnel protective equipment (PPE) for up to one hour or more in duration.
  • Must be able to perform typical duties such as lifting and carrying light to moderate heavy objects (50 pounds or more).
  • Must be able to qualify with assigned weapon(s).
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position has a 1 year probationary period.
  • Individual must successfully pass Arms, Ammunition and Explosives screening.

(3) Conducting training and licensing of operators on standard equipment up to and including 8 ton forklifts, vehicles, and other varieties as required. AND (4) Conducting fleet maintenance management and dispatching procedures.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering, Industrial Arts, Property Management, or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
