You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (MATERIALS AND PROCESSES) in the WELDING ENGINEERING DIVISION, CODE 026, in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will conduct evaluations for the welding shop using Quality Performance System (QPS) data, Deficiency reports, Discrepancy Logs, Audit Action records, and other inspection Verification Reports in support of process improvement programs.
You will conduct program compliance surveillances; plans, schedules, and conduct studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work or training operations, and program effectiveness.
You will analyze, validate, and identify ways to improve the function and activities associated with QA data collection.
You will make recommendations on appropriate actions to resolve instances of program non-compliance and reverse adverse trends based on the required welding knowledge and monthly worksite surveillances.
You will be responsible for projects, studies, reviews, shop quality analyst (SQA) interface, welding supervisor interface, and investigations to resolve welding shop management issues or concerns.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing Quality Assurance (QA) surveillances or audits of Welding processes and techniques to identify negative trends or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions for support of ship overhaul, conversion or repair.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
