This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. The employee works in the Budget and Financial Management Division, under the direction of the Budget Officer. The Budget and Financial Management Division directs OVW's multi-million-dollar budget from formulation through execution, monitoring and oversight.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a 0560 Budget Analyst generally include, but are not limited to, the following 1. Reviews and coordinates accounting records and prepares apportionments, allocations, and operating budgets. 2. Assists in the development of manuals standard operating procedures, reports, and other written materials. 3. Analyzes and evaluates the effects of program plans and budget issues on mission objectives. 4. Develops detailed budget projections consistent with the organization guidance.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
  • You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Budget Analyst, (GS-0560-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade. If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. To qualify for the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing most of the following duties: 1. Reviewing, analyzing and executing funding. 2. Using automated financial management systems and databases. 3. Assisting in developing and maintaining operating plan budgets and other financial reports. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 09/15/2023.
