This position is located with the DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS), UNITED STATES COAST GUARD (USCG), ASSISTANT COMMANDANT FOR RESOURCES (CG-8), DEPUTY ASsiSTANT COMMANDANT FOR RESOURCES/DEPUTY CFO (CG-8D), DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS - COMPTROLLER (CG-8C), OFFICE OF FINANCIAL POLICY, REPORTING & PROPERTY (CG-84), FINANCIAL MANagement policy division 9cg-843), Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as a senior Financial Management Specialist with responsibility for policy development, planning, administering, and evaluating complex and critical administrative operations and programs of Coast Guard-wide Financial Management to ensure overall effectiveness and efficiency of programs, operations, organizations, and agency functions. You will also develop, coordinate, and oversee policy related to financial reporting and analysis, audit remediation and coordination, property accounting, and use of funds policy creation.

Qualifications
To be considered at the GS-13 level: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes: developing, coordinating, and maintaining an integrated system of financial management activities and operations; conducting tasks analyzing program operations for impact upon the accounting/financial management system; independently analyzing specific problem areas arising within the accounting system or program operations and devising and implementing solutions.
To be considered at the GS-14 level: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes: analyzing and developing, coordinating, and maintaining an integrated system of financial management activities and operations; evaluating business processes for internal control deficiencies and related financial management and programmatic issues to determine actions; evaluating the current status of accounting or reporting systems to ensure maximum efficiency of operations; making recommendations to improve operating efficiency and maintain the integrity of financial information.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
