You will serve as an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC in the INDUSTRIAL EXECUTION DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION TRADES DIVISION, of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components, and assemblies. You will disassemble components/systems, determine the required repairs, and reassemble/reinstall components/systems on aircraft. You will use hand tools and operate ground power support equipment to complete aircraft repairs and rework. You will complete check out procedures to ensure proper operation of aircraft. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain the required level(s) of certification and/or training.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision, and includes the ability to perform common tasks such as: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and Working knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures.
