You will serve as an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC in the Production Trades Division and Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
The primary purpose of the position is to perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies supported by the organization.
The duty location for this position is Naval Air Station San Diego, California.
Duties
You will perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components, and assemblies.
You will disassemble components/systems, determine the required repairs, and reassemble/reinstall components/systems on aircraft.
You will use hand tools and operate ground power support equipment to complete aircraft repairs and rework.
You will complete check out procedures to ensure proper operation of aircraft.
You will use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers and hand tools.
You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain required level(s) of certification and/or training.

I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: 1) Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functions and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; 2) Dissembling components/systems and determining the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft; 3) Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems and vent systems; 4) Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; 5) Conducting pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and checking pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repairs on aircraft; 6) Inspecting engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run; 7) Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and 8) Demonstrating a thorough understanding of safety regulations, practices and procedures. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: 1) Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of complex aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; 2) Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; 3) Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems and vent systems; 4) Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; 5) Conducting pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and checking pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repairs on aircraft; 6) Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and 7) Demonstrating a thorough understanding of safety regulations, practices and procedures. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; 2) Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; 3) Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; 4) Conducting pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems after repairs on aircraft; 5) Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and 5) Demonstrating a thorough understanding of safety regulations, practices and procedures. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
