You will serve as a Aircraft Mechanic in the MRO Production Department, Production Lines Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components, and assemblies. You will disassemble components/systems, determine the required repairs, and reassemble/reinstall components/systems on aircraft. You will use hand tools and operate ground power support equipment to complete aircraft repairs and rework. You will complete check out procedures to ensure proper operation of aircraft. You will use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers and hand tools. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You may be required to work all shifts on a rotational basis and work overtime.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: Installs, adjusts, aligns, troubleshoots, and performs final functions and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Dissembles components/systems and determines the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft; Overhauls, repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems; Checks components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories; Conducts pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and checks pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft; Inspects engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run; Stands fire guard during engine starting; Removes filters for evaluation by others and obtains oil samples for laboratory evaluation. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: Installs, adjusts, aligns, troubleshoots, and performs final functions and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Dissembles components/systems and determines the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft; May be required to overhaul, repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems; Visually checks components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories; Conducts pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and checks pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft; Inspects engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run; Stands fire guard during engine starting; Removes filters for evaluation by others and obtains oil samples for laboratory evaluation. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I have the ability to perform common tasks including: Installs, adjusts, aligns, troubleshoots, and performs final functions and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Dissembles components/systems and determines the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft; May be required to overhaul, repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems; Can check components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories; Can perform pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and checks pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft; Inspects engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run; Stands fire guard during engine starting; Removes filters for evaluation by others. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
