You will serve as a Diving Safety Program Specialist in the Expeditionary Warfare Safety Division of NAVSAFECOM.
Duties
You will serve the Diving Division Head and Diving Safety Specialist.
You will review all aspects of the systems design, fabrication, testing, operation and maintenance, as well as, the contractual and program documentation for compliance with Navy's Diving and Manned Hyperbaric System Safety Certification Program
You will oversee manned, certification demonstration dives to ensure that systems and operating and emergency procedures are safe for manned use and provide diving related safety evaluations and input.
You will conduct on-site assurance visits, mishap investigations, and safety surveys and assist visits to Naval activities to determine compliance and severity of hazards.
You will serve as a Diving Subject Matter Expert (SME) for diving related Class A mishap investigation.
You will coordinate and conduct quality control reviews of mishaps to ensure consistent data and conduct trend analysis to develop, control, reduce or eliminate hazards involving diving safety procedures or training.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following:
1) Applying expert knowledge in military diving to include but not limited to Navy Diving Manual, Safety Techniques, Scuba, MK-25, MK-16 and HEO2, and underwater cutting and welding;
2) Understanding safety regulations, methods, standards, and techniques applicable to Navy and Marine Corps Diving Programs sufficient to identify, control, reduce or eliminate hazardous conditions identified during mishap investigations, assurance assessments or assist visits;
3) Possessing technical expertise in safety certification for surface supplied diving systems, diver worn equipment and hyperbaric facilities; and
4) Applying expert knowledge in Class A mishap investigations involving diving operations, Dive/Jump Reporting Systems (DJRS), HAZREPS involving diving, Diving Safety Assessments (DSA), Diving Operational Readiness Inspections (DORI), and/or Trend Analysis methods.
