You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Radiological Controls Office, Radiological Controls Special Projects Division (Code 105.7) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide on-site management control of infrastructure within the Radiological Control Office to improve the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program's overall nuclear work performance. You will utilize comprehensive and practical knowledge of Radiological Control practices, regulations, policies and precedents to address complex problems and provide recommendations. You will coordinate and communicate with asset stakeholders throughout the process contributes to successful implementation of initiatives that allow the Radiological Control Office to safely and effectively complete its mission. You will utilize expertise in managing the full range of both varied operational and administrative aspects and often difficult projects associated with radiological control.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying project management principles and practices to analyze nuclear and radiological engineering planning by developing recommendations and executing modernization within a naval nuclear propulsion plant.
