You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the COMMANDER NAVY REGION of NSA WASHINGTON.
Duties
You will advise management officials on the status of safety and occupational health programs to aid in operational decision making.
You will provide safety oversight of training operations, force protection exercised, recreational activities and command sponsored events.
You will document results and recommended corrective actions of the facility, work site, and safety inspections, assessments, and audits to the Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS) or applicable reporting systems.
You will conduct investigations and analysis of mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, cause, and contributing elements and prepare written reports concerning findings and recommendation.
You will ensure safety requirements mandated by law or regulation are implemented, monitored and evaluated.
You will properly identify safety control measures are adequate when hazards may exist.
You will provide comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of industrial operations, occupational safety and health concepts, principles, practices, techniques and DOD, and DON/USMC procedures, regulations, orders, and directives.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying hazard control techniques affecting the safety and occupational health programs of the organization; 2) Preparing safety and occupational reports outlining the origin, root cause, or contributing elements of mishaps and/or hazardous conditions; 3) Advising the organization on safety and occupational health awareness; 4) Evaluating safety organizational/program processes.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Possession of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
