The incumbent serves as the Chief Pharmacist for the Richmond Service Unit (RSU) and Pharmacy Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC) for the RSU located in Richmond, VA.
RSU serves 7 tribes across the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. The main clinic will be in the greater Richmond area with at least one satellite clinic location near the Monacan Indian Nation and several health stations.
Duties
Responsible for all pharmacy-related operations at the service unit and establishes policies, procedures, and processes to establish on-site pharmacy services and Consolidated Mail Order Pharmacy services.
Serves as the consultant for the Purchased/Referred Care program on medication related services, questions, follow up, and other tasks needed for contract pharmacy services.
Supervises staff, drug inventory procedures, inventory management, and security of drug supplies and medication storage outside of pharmacy.
Provides expert pharmaceutical services, with an emphasis and focus on patient therapeutic drug monitoring.
Analyzes medication regimens to ensure the most effective, least toxic, and most economical treatment plans are utilized. Interviews patients to ascertain significant past medical/pharmaceutical history.
Establishes contracts with local pharmacies to provide pharmacy services to the tribal nations.
Advises the Nashville Area Director and other Executive Leadership Team members to expand this program to other field offices.
Forecasts and prepares budget requests for pharmacy services and proposed pharmacy staffing plans.
Participates as a member of the Health Center leadership team.
Responsible for building the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) structure for the entire clinic.
Provides ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications.
Coordinates the use of pharmacy software for the provision of quality clinical care as well as the use of RPMS information for use in the clinical decision-making process.
Manages the implementation, verification, program development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and problem prevention of the information systems.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Demonstrated professional experience in directing a hospital or clinic pharmacy program which includes experience in supervising staff, directing all activities in pharmacy, developing and implementing pharmacy policies and procedures, experience in working with accreditation standards and performance improvement activities. Experience in working with and managing healthcare information systems.
