About the Position: This position is with US Army National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, NGB-J1, Manpower and Personnel Directorate located in Arlington, VA.
About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.
Duties
Independently plan, develop, direct, and advise on Reintegration and Transition programs and services.
Design and develop national Reintegration and Transition program policy and general implementation guidance to States and Territories for the decentralized operation of the Reintegration and Transition programs at the State level.
Strategize, formulate, and develop recommendations and implementation strategies for significant changes to standard policies and procedures.
Strategize and research present and future long-range objectives of the DoD and the Department of Veterans Affairs, track Congressional and other stakeholder interests.
Oversee the development, evaluation and coordination of Reintegration and Transition services and activities across functional areas and among federal agencies, State National Guard organizations and community agencies.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing recommendations and implementation strategies for significant changes to standard policies and/or procedures; assisting in the oversight of the development, evaluation and/or coordination of Reintegration and Transition services and activities across functional areas and among organizations; and strategizing and researching present and future long-range objectives of the program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
